A small school with a long memory

For over 17 years, Bugs & Butterflies Montessori has been a proud and valued part of the Helderkruin community, nurturing generations of young children and providing a warm, caring environment in which they can learn, grow and flourish.

Our Montessori approach places each child at the centre of their learning journey, encouraging independence, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. Through a carefully prepared environment, dedicated educators and meaningful hands-on experiences, we allow every child to develop at their own pace while building the foundations for a confident and successful future.

We are proud to be a SAMA-accredited Montessori school and are registered with the Department of Education, reflecting our commitment to quality education and authentic Montessori principles.

After more than 17 years, our greatest privilege remains the same: to know each child, nurture their potential and be part of their first steps into the world.

We are not trying to be the biggest preschool in the western suburbs. We are trying to be the place where your child is genuinely known..

Our Montessori Directresses hold recognised Montessori qualifications and are supported by Montessori-trained Assistant Guides in every classroom. Many of our guides have been with us for years, creating the familiar, consistent relationships that allow children to feel secure as they grow from toddlerhood towards Grade R. Children learn at their own pace within mixed-age communities, learning as much from one another as they do from their guides.

Parents are an important part of the journey too. Through observation mornings, seasonal work evenings and honest one-on-one conversations twice a year, we share a clear and meaningful picture of who your child is becoming - rather than simply a report card filled with ticks.
